4 Reasons RUME’s Classic Caffè Latte
Became My Every-Morning Latte

I’m not a morning person, and I’m definitely not a barista.

I do, however, really look forward to my morning latte. For a long time, getting one meant leaving early, making a detour, and hoping the line wasn’t too long. I thought that was just part of having a drink I enjoyed.

RUME’s Classic Caffè Latte is what I make at home now. It takes about a minute, and I haven’t missed the coffee run nearly as much as I thought I would.

Here are the four reasons it stuck.

1

I don’t have to be a barista

I’d look up an “easy” iced latte recipe and find myself watching a whole tutorial. Make the espresso, measure the milk, froth something. Sometimes I enjoy that. But most mornings, I just want a really good latte without working through a recipe first.

With RUME, the coffee and milk are already blended in the right amounts. I stir the powder into a splash of hot water, then add more water—hot if I’m having it warm, or cool before pouring it over ice. About a minute later, it’s ready. And since the hard part is already handled, it’s easy for me to focus on the fun stuff if I want to experiment with my own flavor recipes!

That’s what makes it something I actually want to make every day. Even when I’m running late or have a meeting in a few minutes, my latte is easy to fit in.

It just tastes really good

I’ve tried making lattes at home before — instant espresso, pods — and they were the reason I kept going out for mine. I’d add milk and lose the coffee, add more coffee and wonder why it never tasted like the one I ordered.

This one does. It’s creamy, smooth, and genuinely delicious — the espresso and milk already in the right balance, with none of the adjusting.

I make it in my favorite mug and find myself wanting to sit down and enjoy it, even when I have somewhere to be. That was the part I needed to get right. Saving a few minutes wouldn’t mean much if I didn’t look forward to what I was drinking.

It gave my mornings back

My coffee run used to take about fifteen minutes. Sometimes I’d sit in the drive-thru. Sometimes I’d go inside for a mobile order that was “almost ready” and stand there watching the time.

I hadn’t thought much about how often I did that. Fifteen minutes, five mornings a week, is an hour and fifteen minutes. Over four weeks, that’s five hours spent getting coffee.

Making my latte at home gives me most of that time back. I can sit down for breakfast, read a few pages, or finish getting ready without feeling like I should already be out the door.

I don’t always do anything special with those minutes. It’s just nice to have a little room in the morning.

I stopped trading sleep for my latte

I came across a 2019 study in Sleep Health that followed 130 working adults over eight days. Sleeping just sixteen minutes less than usual was associated with more distracting, off-task thoughts the next day.

That caught my attention because sixteen minutes was almost exactly my coffee run.

I was waking up earlier to buy the thing I felt I needed because I was tired. Until then, I’d mostly thought about whether I had enough time to get coffee. I hadn’t given much thought to the sleep I was giving up for it.

Now, some mornings I use the extra time to sit and enjoy my latte. Other mornings, I stay in bed a little longer.

I like knowing I can do either. Having the drink I want no longer means getting up early enough to go somewhere for it.
